Get Fit Pod #151 Ben Greenfield Visits Get Fit Pod – This episode features a special interview with top ranked triathlete and one of the top triathlon, nutrition and metabolism experts in the nation-Ben Greenfield,  Skip will seek Ben’s guidance and advice on the diet and exercise elements of the Get Fit Pod Fitness Strategy.  Ben will also weigh-in on barefoot running.  The episode features two mini-workouts with music provided by Flying Machines -On A Whim and by Kortney Jean - New Dance

Hey Everybody!  I’ll be taking a late summer break for the next three weeks.  The next new Get Fit Pod episode will be #152 scheduled for release on September 12th.  It will be the first of two consecutive episodes focusing on barefoot running.  Our special guest will be Wendy Nail, the RustedRunner.  I’m continuing to do my research on barefoot running, which includes trying it myself.  I’ll be making occasional posts about it in the Barefoot Running category on this blog. Get Fit Pod #149- The Advanced High Intensity Interval Training Workout for Runners – An intense 18 minute high intensity interval training workout for runners.  This workout is advanced level training.  Make sure that you understand  Heart Rate Training, and especially High Intensity Interval Training before attempting this workout.  It’s summer time in the northern hemisphere.  So, it’ll be best to do this workout in the cool early morning or late evening.  Have water with you on the run and check out this information about exercising in the summer heat .  You will burn lots of calories, and keep them burning off long after you complete this workout as your body recovers.  Music is provided by Moving Castles, Verona Red, The Fire Apes, and The Brew.  Coaching is provided by Get Fit Pod host and coach , Skip Orem -Dont’t forget next week is our special 150th Get Fit Pod Episode from Las Vegas.

Get Fit Pod Episode #148 Music and Exercise 2.0 The Music Element of the Get Fit Pod Fitness Strategy is the focus of this episode.  Skip Orem gives you examples of the types of music that will motivate you to start your workout, stay with it longer, and exercise with more intensity.  This is not a workout episode, but you will be exercising intensely during most of this 30 minute podcast. Get Fit Pod Episode #147 Strength Training  I’ve returned from Las Vegas tan, rested, and of course as always, fit.  This episode focuses on a component of one of the five elements of the Get Fit Pod Fitness Strategy.  The five important elements are – 1)diet, 2) exercise, 3) Musice, 4)Knowledge and 5) Journaling.  The exercise element has two subcomponents, cardio and strength training.  This episode features a brief introduction to strength training and it’s overall importance to a well structured fitness strategy.  The episode will also feature three mini-workouts with music from Aaron and Ashley Rose.  You will also get an opportunity to practice two body-weight strength training exercises.

Get Fit Pod Episode #146 The Summer 2010 Running (Walking) Workout -This brand new Get Fit Pod Workout is Long Slow Distance moderate level training to build endurance and burn calories.  It’s labeled a running workout but it can easily be adapted to walking.  Lace up your shoes, get your light weight running clothes on, and get out there and enjoy the day, as you spend about 50 minutes with long slow distance training and the Get Fit Pod 2010 Running Workout.

The workout features music from; Moving Castles,  Ryan Shupe and The Rubber Band, George Wood, Joe Colledge, Maria Daines, Flying Machines, The Max, Greg Federico, Adam Ilamini, and American Heart Beat.  There will be no Get Fit Pod Episodes the next two weeks, while I enjoy some vacation time with the beautiful T.O.  The next new Get Fit Pod episode will be released on July 18th.  It will be all about the important exercise component of strength training.  Have a great Summer ! – Skip

Get Fit Pod Episode #145 On the Track Workout 3.0 Designed to be done on an outdoor or indoor track, this is an intense workout for runners or walkers. Total time of the workout is 55 minutes but it could very easily be split into two workout sessions.  Skip Orem coaches you through some high intensity running/walking intervals.  You will also be doing some stair climbing.  Don’t worry if their are no stairs at your track, Skip has built in some additional work for those of you without a stadium,  or stairs.  Music is provided by Nony Zero,  Aramitsu,  The Vara-Tones,  Ella Rouge,  Barbacoa,  Steve Paroe,  Verona Red,  Esteban,  The Automatic Rhythm Section,  Duane Carter,  The Redline,  Doug Ferony, Nalts,  Ryan Shupe,  The Alice Project,  and Yuma House.
